Big hearted networkers Women in Newbury donate £600

Diane Morgan chairs Women In Newbury, the thriving networking group in West Berkshire that does more than meet montly, they also like to raise money for charities.

When they wanted to raise funds for Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust, they donned their thinking caps and held a successful quiz night at Newbury Rugby Club

The fruits of their cerebral labour, a donation of £674.46, was presented to staff at the hospital today and is being used to part fund a new Kirton chair, costing £1,800. The Rainbow Rooms provide all the comforts of a private homely room with the latest medical equipment.

Women In Newbury, one of West Berkshire’s most lively and entertaining networking groups, not only organised a quiz at Newbury Rugby Club, but also held a pamper evening at the Corn Exchange with the proceeds going toward Newbury and District Cancer Care Trust, who support the Rainbow Rooms and raise funds to equip and maintain the four Rainbow Rooms at the Hospital.

For the benefit of a press release to the Newbury Weekly News, Diane commented “We are so pleased that we have been able to support this worthy cause and it is great to know that the money raised is helping to improve the facilities available in these rooms. The rooms enable families to stay at the hospital with their relatives and provide comfort and support to them.”

Naturally Morgan PR's public relations skills in West Berkshire came into play and helped secure a photographer from the Newbury Weekly News for the event, which allowed us to snap him snapping the presentation. With space of a premium in recession hit newspapers it really pays to know what to ask for from the media, and when to ask for it.

It was great to make the donation today, not least as Women In Newbury met this evening and the members were thrilled to hear how the presentation had gone.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month and the venue varies, so if you are a local businesswoman and would like to attend, please check the Women In Newbury website for details.
