Could your firm convert prospects at Newbury Rugby Club?

Morgan PR was at the Newbury Rugby Club earlier today to watch Newbury play Tynedale in the first match of the season. We were guests of our good friend Julian Lewis of Positive Computing, the Berkshire computer support company that offers hassle free IT.
It made for a cracking day out with a really friendly group of people and we got to see an entertaining game of rugby – even if Newbury lost in the 86th minute!
It has been a good few years since a corporate invite took us to see The Blues play and the club has faced some challenges since then, but it was reassuring to see the venue still delivers a great day out and we have been wondering how many local businesses might be ready to support a local team while entertaining their clients or prospects? There is a could chance you could be converting your efforts if you do! It is good Corporate Social Responsibility to support clubs within your local community too, which makes it an even better decision.
There are also plenty of opportunities for sponsorship at the club too; from the match ball and each match itself, to the advertising hoardings around the edge of the pitch. Information on the sponsorship opportunities with Newbury Rugby Club can be downloaded here.
The food was fabulous, with those dining in the Wickens Suite enjoying chicken liver pate with an onion marmalade and toast followed by steak and ale pie with mashed potato and vegetables (and Diane assures me the vegetarian option was great too). From the balcony you could see other fans tucking into Mickey’s Paella, which has achieved near legendary status, suggesting everyone got good food.
The warm enthusiasm of the fans at a rugby match always makes me smile, not least in contrast to the antagonism I used to see when at Thames Valley Police and attended the ‘Category C’ football matches between less than friendly rival clubs!
As for the photograph above, snapped on my Blackberry, it shows the Blues in action, generously dressed in red to accommodate Tynedale’s blue hooped strip which had their sponsor’s name emblazoned upon it!
