Social media focus at Newbury Sales and Marketing Forum

The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce is holding the first Sales and Marketing Forum in Newbury, West Berkshire this Friday – and social media is at the top of the agenda with large numbers be predicted at the Newbury Racecourse venue.
Social Networking – Getting beyond the “now what?” is the title which is drawing the crowds as a trio of speakers, including Nigel Morgan from Morgan PR, will take to the floor to give vital insights in how to leverage social media for your business.
The event will be introduced by Marion Royer, Business Manager, Business Alliance, with the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and will introduce the panel of experts who each have firsthand experience of making social media and social networking work for business. Incidentally did you know the that the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce is on Twitter?
Moira Clark is a professor of strategic marketing at Henley Business School and director of the Henley Centre for Customer Management and she will be exploring social networking as a customer management tool.
The author of this blog and founder of Morgan PR, Nigel Morgan is one of the Thames Valley’s leading experts of public relations and the application of social media in business. A former journalist and police press officer, he launched Morgan PR in 2002 and has been a successful business blogger since 2006; he joined Twitter way back in 2007 – and blogged that it would never catch on! Happily admitting he got that on wrong! Morgan PR now helps both B2B and B2C leverage social media through the application of Organic PR. If you follow Nigel Morgan on Twitter you will discover how he uses it and Morgan PR also runs a Daily PR Tips on Twitter too.
He explained: “Most businesses are getting the message that the future of sales and marketing is firmly with social media and social networking. I will be talking about Strategic business success with social networking, what works and just as importantly what doesn’t!”
The third member of the panel is the talented Marketing Co-ordinator for solicitors Charles Lucas & Marshall, Emma Daly, who will be talking about her experiences with Twitter and how following some simple rules has turned it into a source of business for the law firm. You can see how Emma is using the microblogging service by following @clmlawbits on Twitter.
