The Travelling 4Burys invade Abigail's Party at 4N Newbury
Public Relations specialists Morgan PR was back at 4Networking in Newbury this morning for a near riotous whirl of fun and friendly fraternisation with a near record number of like minded professionals.
Variously known as Abigail’s Party, in theatrical honour of the group leader Abigail Brown from Dovetail, and ‘naughty Newbury’, (presumably in ‘wicked West Berkshire?’) it was certainly an particularly exciting event today with a certain sparkle that may just be attributed to the presence of the soon to legendary quartet of The Traveling 4Burys.
They shouldn’t be confused with The Traveling Wilburys (even if their logo looks very much like the 1980s super group’s and includes their Americanised spelling of the Travelling!) and rather than musicians George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison(pictured right), this talented foursome are Ken Abbott, Chris Cherril, Olly Culverhouse and Kim Hambley.
The 4Burys (pictured above courtesy of official 4N photographer Mike Palmer) added to the madcap morning meeting as did the party hats, indeed my own blue pointy party hat was readily turned into a Twitteresque beak for my 40 seconds, which actually wandered closer to a few minutes as I talked about how much Morgan PR is enjoying 4Networking and the measurable returns we are seeing from it.
So while this was nominated for one of the best messages of the morning, the lollipop trophy rightly went to Chantal Cornelius of Appletree for her inspired use of a rather useless business card shredder, which she said was for those cards of people with poor presentations –something she could readily remedy! As I say, inspired!
We had a stimulating 4Sight Slot from one of the 4Bury’s and fellow Twitter fan, Ken Abbott, who had everyone laughing with tales of his first year with 4Networking My trio of productive one-to-ones were with property tycoon and recent star of the BBC’s Money Programme, Juswant Rai, the soon to be Twittering Keith Burr of Recognition Express and the Fonz look alike Kim Hambley.
Also kudos to the feather fingered Olly Culverhouse, this 4Bury is a whizz on the Qwerty keys and bashed out a live blog of the 4Networking event in Newbury. The 4Burys website will be used to keep everyone apprised of the travellers’ tour date as they aim to reach as many 4Networking groups as possible.
Hopefully Morgan PR will see them again when we deliver the 4Sight Slot at Gordano on Friday 23 October (Gordano rhymes with ‘Insane? Oh!’ rather than ‘Iran! No!’)
