Twitter Workshop reveals how best to use micro blogging tool
Learning how to use Twitter is vital if you want to use the popular micro-blogging tool for your business, which is why Morgan PR offers Twitter Workshops in Newbury, West Berkshire.
Morgan PR is delighted to have brought in one of our associates, Mary Thomas, from Concise Training to deliver the nuts and bolts of using the different aspects of Twitter. Mary delivers 1-2-1 online training on a host of software applications and her expertise as a trainer compliments the strategic input I deliver to help delegates understand what Twitter can achieve.
What was good fun was while Mary and I see eye to eye on most aspects of Twitter and tweeting, we didn’t always agree – we prefer SocialOomph and she likes FutureTweets and while we think automation is a useful tool, Mary is wary!
Our varying views were useful for the delegates as chatting to them during the half day workshop it was clear that they naturally favoured one approach or the other. Incidentally Mary is @concisetraining on Twitter and I am @nigel_morgan and also offer @DailyPRTips (and would also recommend you follow @dianemorgan00, my wife and fellow director who is rocking on Twitter!).
Getting to grips with Twitter on our Twitter Workshop in Newbury were:
Marianne Creaney from the press office of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, whose tweets can be found at @TValleyChamber and her colleague, head of marketing, Ginette Gower, who is tweeting as @GinetteGower . The Chamber are tweeting more and more and wanted to be sure they were doing everything to ensure this tool serves the interest of its members.
Property magnate, 4Networker, social networker and all round good guy Juswant Rai will be known to many as a great Twitter already, however, he is the one and only @JuswantRai on Twitter and says he learned new tricks on the workshop! This is an important point – no matter how long you have been using Twitter, there are always new innovations and tricks to learn!
Those familiar with the forthcoming Keeping Business Local exhibitions on the 19th October at Reading’s Madejski Stadium and at Newbury Racecourse on the 9th November might already be familiar with @varietyevents, Debra Mann, the entrepreneur behind the recession busting events has already begun to use Twitter and we often retweet her messages about the events – which we are speaking at on Social Networking: Making Friends or Making Money.
The universal appeal of Twitter makes it perfect for niche markets, which is why Valerie Nesbitt wants to use it to promote Justhands-on.tv The UK's first on-line TV website devoted to patchwork, quilting and
mixed media textile arts. Her Twitter identity is @valerienes and there is a great video on her website recorded by Bizview.tv, who also kindly suggested she attend our Twitter Workshop to learn more.
Grammar to Go is a terrific website offering help to individuals and businesses who know how important grammar is and is run by the friendly grammar angel Jane Penson. Morgan PR has been helping with the company’s social media strategy and exciting things are in the pipeline. You should definitely follower the grammar angel that is @janepenson and also @grammartogo for brilliant daily grammar tips.
We met recently with the wise Business Link advisor Roz Jones in Newbury and after talking about our workshops she was keen to attend and is Twittering as @roziejo . Business Link is a useful free service that has advisors, like Roz, who are brimming with advice and expertise and Twitter would be a fabulous channel to push some of this out to businesses yet to benefit from the service.
Carolyne Wahlen is a Human Resources guru who appears on Twitter as @PreventativeHR which neatly reflects her business-winning metaphor of likening good preventative HR to safe sex – you should practice both unless you want to deal with the consequences! It never fails to raise a smile, but makes a really important point – you might get away with failing to take the appropriate precautions, but sooner or later... Carolyne’s company is Gap HR if you are worried you are having unprotected HR with your staff!
Last and by no means last is someone who is revolutionising the workplace to improve the health of employees and productivity, while reduces absenteeism and the associated costs. Diksha Chakravarti runs Fix Me, an organisation that works with businesses to avoid back problems and repetitive strain injuries, and can help those already suffering. Diksha’s Twitter name is @fixmediksha and she plans to spread the important word through Twitter.
We hold our Twitter Workshops monthly at the Deanwood Golf Course and Conference Centre just outside Newbury and only a few places remain on the course we are running on November 16th and the next after that is most likely to be January – so register your place now if you want to learn how to leverage this important tool for your business.
