How blogging can turbo charge your public relations

Blogging is a sure fire way to turbo charge your PR and can help your business promote itself among not only your existing clients, but prospects and even those who do not even know they need you yet!

When we talk about Organic PR we always make it clear that a well maintained blog is the cornerstone of this successful approach. Organic PR is all about promoting the everyday opportunities that undoubtedly exist within your business.

We’ve blogged before about why you should be blogging and of course getting good public relations, getting your message out to the right audience, has to be one of the top reasons alongside how much Google loves the fresh content that blogging adds to your website.

Your regular readers will be reading your blog already and you should be using social media to reach a wider audience. You can use Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to promote links to your blog posts and drive traffic to your website.

If you want to be perceived as an expert then a blog is the perfect platform. Adding content that demonstrates your expertise will help readers understand the difference you can make to them or their business.

Always be abundant and share your knowledge! Absolutely there might be some who merrily use your generosity to get ahead, but so what? Others would rather leverage their money for your time and expertise. Besides, some of those who just help themselves will still promote you to others.

This approach is how the best columns in the traditional media work and if you want to add traditional PR to your Organic PR mix, having this kind of content allows you to promote yourself to the media as an expert.

Content on your blog that proves you are an expert can also help the media trust you when you pitch to them with a press release or promotion. Of course any such press release should also appear on your blog too!

Well read blogs can often reach a wider, more invested audience, than the traditional media. A scary thought, not least for this former journalist, but it is the truth.

Think for a moment about the blogs you regularly read and the impact that has on how you view that business? Perhaps you even recommend their services based on what you read. The simple truth is without the Morgan PR blog we would not have met many of our clients!
